I confess, that, for a very brief period in my life (I was 16 and being from Europe, had never learned anything about the American Civil War!), I found Gone With The Wind an enchanting read. But then, a few weeks after reading it, I stumbled on an article that took the book to task, which prompted me to educate myself about GOTW skewered racial depictions.
