Yes, I agree with you, the Martin situation is trickier. I've read a comment on Reddit where someone asserted Martin has said he isn't writing Winds of Winter because he is rich and can afford to tinker with little side projects. Apparently he insinuated that he isn't dependent on the money so he can choose to do what he wants-in this case, postpone the writing of said book. Perhaps you know more about this, but if it is true, I'm not sure if I can fully support that view, seems a bit of a waste.

Of course you are right about fans being entitled to being annoyed, I'm no saint when it comes to that either. I think I wrote that 'my impatience flares up' at times but at certain moments, that could be classed as a vast understatement :)
